Students from the Free International University of Moldova visit the Ministry of Defense

Chisinau, 19 November 2012 — Approximately 20 students from the Faculty of History and International Relations of the Free International University of Moldova (FIUM) had an initiative visit to the Ministry of Defense.

Students met with Brigadier General Vitalie Stoian, chief of Main Staff, commander of the National Army, and have learned more about military structure, international cooperation, and participation in multinational political and military initiatives, military exercises and peacekeeping operations. The program of the activity included also the presentation of the studies conducted by students on defense and national security.

Brigadier general Vitalie Stoian welcomed the collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and Free International University and urged young people to be informed from credible sources about the military, emphasizing the need for employment of young and qualified specialists in the military structures of the Republic of Moldova. “The Ministry of Defense is an institution open to communication and hope to keep the collaboration with higher education institutions from the country. I invite you, those who study the defense and security system, to join military structures after your graduation,” Chief of Main Staff mentioned.

In her turn, the dean of History and International Relations Faculty of FIUM, Ludmila Coada, thanked the general for the hospitality manifested by military structures in the last 18 years.

“Of all the cooperations that we have with state institutions we organize the most fruitful activities with the Ministry of Defense. We will send a thank you letter to the Minister of Defense on the behalf of FIUM rector soon. We would like to extend our collaboration with the military institution, possibly by organizing small conferences on areas of common interest or by giving lectures within our faculty by specialists from the ministry. We would also like to organize meetings with the Minister of Defense at our institution,” Ludmila Coada said.

The meeting with the students was attended by some of the National Army officers who previously had been UN observers in Ivory Coast, Liberia and Sudan.

Colonel Eduard Ohladciuc, head of personnel directorate, specified that the visit of the students and their internships is the result of bilateral relations between the Ministry of Defense and the FIUM. In accordance with the bilateral agreement between the Ministry of Defense and FIUM, yearly, a group of students have internships at the Defense policy and defense planning directorate.
