Moldavian military leave for Germany



Chişinău, November, 23rd , 2012 — at the MoD took place a deployment ceremony for the National Army contingent to the “Mission Readiness Exercise” (MRE) applications, to be held from November 26th to December 12th this year, at the military base in Hohenfels, Germany.

Attending the event, the Chief of the Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier General Vitalie Stoian said that this exercise is an opportunity for the National Army to maintain combat preparedness of the infantry company staff, certified this year by international experts. It is also an opportunity to gain experience in organizing training exercises for deployment in various operations. "I am confident that this time you will have a good performance. All the more that you have the necessary training and experience, and this will definitely help in carrying out the tasks that will be entrusted. "said National Army commander.

In his turn, the representative of the Bureau of Military Cooperation of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, lieutenant colonel Sergio Porres, mentioned that the National Army units participated in various exercises and peacekeeping missions and each time has been internationally acclaimed as very professional and prepared. "This experience will be invaluable as you will have the opportunity to apply practical skills you acquired in the internal training, but most important is that you can test them in terms of interoperability, an important capability in the modernization and your aspirations to participate in peacekeeping operations, “said lieutenant colonel Sergio Porres.

According to the head of the Moldavian contingent , lieutenant-colonel Sergiu Şaramet, the National Army will deploy to this military exercise conducted at the military base in Hohenfels, 100 professional military from 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” and from Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun ”.

The above mentioned source added that the Moldovan military will conduct, along with the subunits of the partner nations, joint operations of patrol, escort, travel, transportation and support. The purpose of the exercise is to assess the readiness of subunits for rotation of troops in international missions.

The “Mission Readiness Exercise” is organized by the U.S. Army in Europe and includes several phases. Thus, at first the Modavian military will attend training in several specialties, with an emphasis on practical application of knowledge acquired in various modern simulators. In the second stage , they will run a combined field and staff exercise in collaboration with the military from Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, USA, Georgia.
