Moldavian-British collaboration in the defense domain



Chisinau, February 5th 2013 — Minister of Defense, Vitalie Marinuta had a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Chisinau, Shannon Keith. The event was attended by the UK military attaché accredited to the Republic of Moldova residing in Kiev, Colonel Burnell Geremy.

The Officials have reviewed the present state of bilateral relations in the military field, expressing the conviction that there are all prerequisites for the amplification of these in mutually beneficial terms. The parties also discussed the Transnistrian conflict and the current peacekeeping format in this region.

Vitalie Marinuta informed British official about the Ministry’s of Defense objectives for the current year and thanked for assistance in the language training field and military reform implementation.

“Working with British partners allows National’s Army military the implementation of reform proposals aimed to modernize and streamline the State military institutions, and the consultative assistance of the British experts team, granted to Republic of Moldova in the implementation of the Strategic Defense Review is very valuable,” Minister of Defense said.

In his turn, Ambassador Shannon Keith assured that Britain will continue to support the reform aspirations of Moldavian people, specifying the availability of his country to remain a reliable partner for the future. The official said that the UK will continue to provide assistance in the defense field reforming, a vital area in the process of European integration of Moldova.
