Military EOD Engineers Dispose Five Explosive Devices in the Security Zone


Chisinau, April 8, 2013 — National Army EOD engineers disposed in the first week of April seven explosive devices discovered in the Security Zone.

According to Col. Mihail Semionov, Chief of EOD Division of the National Army, four explosives, three 82-mm bomb-launcher bombs, and an 100-mm artillery projectile, were found by citizens of Hagimus village, Causeni, during agricultural works.

The fifth explosive device, an 82-mm bomb, also discovered during the land farming works, was defused in Dorotcaia village, Dubasari district.

Col. Mihail Semionov said that all infantry ammunition dates back to World War II and was disposed by the EOD team of Engineer Battalion “Codru.”

According to the data of the Ministry of Defense, this year, the National Army EOD engineers were called in 43 times and destroyed 562 explosive devices throughout the country.
