Ministry of Defense Holds First Training Course for Military EOD Engineers



Chisinau, April 19, 2013 — A group of National Army servicemembers received the graduation certificates of EOD training course within a ceremony held at Armed Forces Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”.

The certificates were awarded by Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, Director of National Army Main Staff, who appreciated the organization of this kind of training for the first time. “The EOD engineers’ qualification daily engaged in dangerous missions requires high readiness. Thus, your training is a priority for the leadership of defense institution”, Gen. Cutie said.

The official asked 18 graduates of the EOD course to show professional competence and attention to details while engaged in mine disposal missions throughout the country.

According to Col. Mihail Semionov, Head of EOD Division of Land Force Command, the course was held within April 1-19 and consisted of two stages. The theoretical stage of the course took place at Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”. The practical part of the course was held at the training center of Engineer Battalion “Codru” from Negresti.

The quoted source stated the training aims at improving military EOD engineers’ readiness, as well as familiarizing them with the new engineer techniques and work procedures.

The National Army currently has six demining groups ready to act throughout the country whenever necessary.
