Military EOD Engineers Dispose Over 500 Explosive Devices in April


Chisinau, April 30, 2013 — National Army EOD engineers disposed in April 519 explosive devices in Causeni, Falesti, Dubasari, Ungheni, Criuleni, Leova and Singerei districts.

Col. Mihail Semionov, Chief of EOD Division of the National Army, said that during this period of time, the engineers were called in 32 times. They located, identified, neutralized, recovered and destroyed 16 artillery projectiles, 7 F-1 hand grenades, 12 air bombs and 473 bullets.

The quoted source said that the largest number of ordnances, 473 bullets of 7.62 mm caliber, two F-1 grenades and an 82-mm bomb-launcher bomb, was found by a citizen of Branesti village, Orhei, during natural gas pipelines’ building works in Plop-Stiubei village, Causeni district. The ammunition dating back to World War II was disposed by the EOD team of Engineer Battalion “Codru”, commanded by Capt. Valentin State.

This year, the National Army EOD engineers were called in 58 times and destroyed 1022 explosive devices throughout the country.
