Military Aviators – 21 Years On Duty
CHISINAU, June 4, 2013 — The staff of Decebal Air Base from Marculesti marked 21st anniversary within a ceremony that brought together unit former commanders, army and war veterans.
Col. Vadim Cemirtan, Commander of Air Force Command, congratulated military and civilian personnel of the unit on the anniversary and awarded them medals and diplomas on behalf of the National Army leadership.
Col. Cemirtan specified that the awards are a sign of gratitude on behalf of the National Army for performance in national and international missions. “The airbase is a core element of the national defense system with significant achievements in the aeronautical history of Republic of Moldova. I would like to point out that National Army helicopters are current engaged in UN missions in Afghanistan, where they perform non-combat missions, humanitarian assistance, evacuation and logistics supply”, Col. Cemirtan said.
Decebal Air Base was established on May 28, 1992, based on Soviet Union Air Regiment 86, through Republic of Moldova President’s decision.
