Moldovan Servicemembers – Students at West Point and US Air Force Academy
CHISINAU, June 18, 2013 — Young men selected for West Point Academy and Air Force Academy of the United States of America took their military oath at Alexandru cel Bun Armed Forces Military Academy.
Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, Director of National Army Main Staff, congratulated the two young men on taking their oath and wished them success and much assiduity in building their military career. “For you, the chance to study at some of the most famous military schools of the United States of America is a great achievement, while for the National Army this is pride. I am certain you will obtain high results at the American schools and your performance will help building a good image of our army and country abroad”, Brigadier Gen. Cutie said.
Maj. Andrei Pascal, Chief of Human Resource Planning Section, stated that Pavel Delimarschi is the first Moldovan to study at such an outstanding school like West Point Military Academy, and Anton Cebanu will be admitted at Air Force Military Academy. The studies will last four years. After graduation, both will be hired in the National Army.
Andrei Pascal said the young men had been selected by a Moldovan American examination board. The selection contest brought together 16 candidates and consisted of physical training test — distance running, basketball shooting, push ups, pull ups, resistance for 1600 meter distance running — English Language Proficiency Test (TOEFL — 98) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
The young men were selected based on the admission contest in US institutions of higher education conducted in autumn 2012 by military representatives of the US Embassy to Chisinau and representatives of the Ministry of Defense.
Pavel Delimarschi and Anton Cebanu will join the above academies by the end of June.
