Joint Peacekeeping Forces Mark 21st Anniversary



Chisinau, July 29, 2013 — An official ceremony dedicated to the 21st ceremony of Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPF) in the Security Zone of Republic of Moldova was hosted by the Main Staff of the peacekeeping forces in Tighina.

The Moldovan Deputy Chairperson of the Joint Control Commission, Ion Solonenco, said that peace building in the Transnistrian zone is the most important mission of state, meant to insure peace and security in the region. “Moldovan peacekeepers, as part of Joint Peacekeeping Forces, fulfill their tasks with much responsibility, being a trustful means to maintain stability in the Security Zone”, Ion Solonenco stated.

During the ceremony, the best peacekeepers were awarded military distinctions for excellent service and contribution to maintaining high combat readiness and professionalism.

The event agenda included wrestling exercises, demonstrated by peacekeepers, and an exhibition of JPF weapons and technical equipment.

The Joint Peacekeeping Forces consist of three groups: Russian Army Group, Republic of Moldova Force Group and Tiraspol Force Group.

The National Army deployed two battalions and an infantry unit to the Security Zone, stationed in Cocieri, Cosnita and Varnita.
