Infantry from Chisinau – 21 Years on Duty
CHISINAU, October 19, 2013 — Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinuta, attended today the 21st anniversary ceremony of Brigade “Stefan cel Mare” from Chisinau.
Minister of Defense awarded Diplomas of Government, class I, II and III, and diplomas on behalf of the Ministry of Defense to a group of soldiers as a sign of appreciation of their daily work and outstanding service.
Vitalie Marinuta thanked the military and civil personnel for the good performance of duties.
“Brigade ‘Stefan cel Mare’ is an important unit of the National Army. Its most significant resource is the military and civil personnel that gained respect, appreciation and trust of citizens, along with the entire army. This demonstrates the fact that, together, we perform our duty accurately and with high commitment”, the Minister of Defense said.
The commander of the unit, LTC Mihail Olaru, pointed out that Brigade “Stefan cel Mare” marks its 21st anniversary with tens of thousands of young people from all over the country that received appropriate education and did their military service in order to become true patriots of Republic of Moldova.
“Today, we opened a barrack for conscripts, that has been renovated this year. We want our soldiers to have excellent living and training conditions. Thus, they will be provided high quality military training”, LTC Olaru stated.
The anniversary ceremony program consisted of weapon handling and wrestling exercises presented by the soldiers of Guard of Honor and Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, an exhibition of weapons, technical equipment and vehicles.
The event brought together the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and National Army Main Staff, defense attaches, former commanders of the unit, military priests, pupils and students from Chisinau, as well as soldiers’ parents.
Brigade “Stefan cel Mare” was founded on October 16, 1992.
