Military EOD Engineers Dispose About 500 Explosive Devices in October


Chisinau, October 30, 2013 — National Army EOD engineers disposed, in October, 492 explosive devices in Orhei, Stefan-Voda, Anenii Noi, Ialoveni, Hincesti, Causeni, Ocnita districts and Balti.

According to Maj. Nicolae Teleghin, specialist, EOD Division of the National Army, during this period of time, the engineers were called in 24 times. They located, identified, neutralized, recovered and destroyed artillery projectiles, anti-tank mines, F-1 and RG-17 hand grenades, 76 mm and 152 mm bomb-launcher bombs, as well as three air bombs.

The quoted source pointed out that two 50-kg air bombs were discovered in Serpeni village, Anenii Noi, during some excavation works. The ammunition made in the Soviet period, dating back to World War II, were disposed by the EOD team of Engineer Battalion “Codru”, commander by Cpt. Valentin State. Another air bomb was discovered in Ialoveni, during some digging works near a household.

This year, the National Army EOD engineers were called in 153 times and destroyed 1777 explosive devices throughout the country.
