Presidential Orchestra of Republic of Moldova Celebrates 21st Anniversary



Chisinau, November 7, 2013 — The Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova celebrated the 21st anniversary within a ceremony held today at the Ministry of Defense.

Defense Minister, Vitalie Marinuta, congratulated the Orchestras’ personnel on the 21st anniversary and appreciated the high artistic skills, demonstrated by the military and civil musicians at different ceremonies, concerts, military parades and festivals both in the country and outside it.

The Presidential Orchestra, which has been working with the National Army for 21 years, always shows talent and professionalism. Every time, through its repertoire of military, folk and classic songs, you bring joy, optimism and love for patriotic values and customs to peole’s heart. For the mastership you manage to combine the marching and music, you deserve all our attention and respect“, the Minister of Defense said.

At the event, a group of active-duty and retired servicemembers of the Presidential Orchestra were awarded Diplomas of Government, class I, for professionalism and excellent fulfillment of service duties, contribution to promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova, within state protocol ceremonies, creative activity and contribution to the development of the national culture.

At the same time, the Minister conferred ranks and awarded the “Cross of Merit”, class III, “Distinguished Service” Cross, 3rd class, the Insignia of Gratitude and the Honors Servicemember insignia to a few members of the band.

On the 21st anniversary, on Friday, 6 p.m., the Presidential Orchestra will hold a concert at the Organ Hall from Chisinau. The event will bring together such national singers as: Natalia Proca, Nelly Ciobanu, Cristina Scarlat, Andrian Timpau and Vadim Ambros.

According to Maj. Sergiu Holban, Head of Military Orchestral Service of the National Army, throughout 21 years of activity, the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova, that consists of 75 military and 35 civil musicians, performed at different international festivals in Germany, Russia, Belgium and Romania. Everytime, they were rewarded with aplauses for the successful performance.

The Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova, founded on November 7, 1992, accompanies welcome ceremonies of foreign officials and delegations, participates at the accreditation ceremonies of ambassadors, military parades and other solemn events. The Orchestra performs within festivals, charity concerts, inauguration of monuments, military exercises, saluting, ceremonies on laying wreaths at monuments and tombs of the fallen soldiers.
