Land Forces Troops Attend „Saber Guardian - 2014”


Chisinau, March 22, 2014 — A group of National Army servicemembers participate at the multinational command and staff exercise “Saber Guardian — 2014”, held within March 21 — April 3, at Novo Selo Training Area, Sliven, Bulgaria.

According to Commander of the Moldovan contingent, LTC Mircea Bujor, the exercise is designed to reinforce civil-military cooperation, improve regional interoperability, increase readiness level and enhance interoperability.

The participants at “Saber Guardian — 2014” plan and carry out peacekeeping missions in an operational environment, train and perform main staff tactics, techniques and procedures in joint land operations, with a focus on stability operations.

The quoted source specified that the National Army deployed to the exercise a contingent of soldiers from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, Brigade “Moldova”, as well as Brigade “Stefan cel Mare”.

“Saber Guardian — 2014”, conducted by the US Land Force Command in Europe, brings together Land Forces troops from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
