National Army Soldiers Train at Viking 2014

Chisinau, March 31, 2014 — A group of National Army servicemembers participate at the multinational exercise “Viking 2014”, within March 31- April 10, held simultaneously in Sweden, Serbia, Ireland, Georgia and Bulgaria.

The goal of the exercise is to train servicemembers for peacekeeping missions, focusing on planning UN-led peacekeeping operations in an unstable environment, as well as cooperation and coordination between all the units in the theater of operations.

According to Commander of the Moldovan contingent, LTC Vasile Severin, 11 officers deployed to “Viking 2014” will carry out missions in different units of the Main Staff within the multinational brigades from Sweden, Serbia and Ireland.

This is the 7th edition of “Viking 2014”, which is a multinational computer-assisted command and staff exercise (CAX).

This year, the exercise brings together about 2000 servicemembers from 28 NATO member countries and “Partnership for Peace” (PfP) partners.
