Military Sportsmen Compete at European Wrestling and Weightlifting Championships

Chisinau, April 3, 2014 — The representatives of the Central Sports Club of the Army (CSCA) participate in April at the European Wrestling and Weightlifting Championships, held in Vantaa, Finland and Tel Aviv, Israel.

According to Chief of CSCA, Col. Andrei Catlabuga, two military sportsmen — warrant officers Victor Ciobanu (59 kg) and Svetlana Saenco (69 kg) — will go to Finland to compete at weightlifting, 59 kg weight category, and wrestling, 69 weight category.

Three other weightlifters of the institution — 1st LT Oleg Sirghi, Serghei Cechir and WO Artiom Pipa — will perform at 56 kg, 69 kg and 77 kg weight categories, within the Championship from Israel.

1st LT Oleg Sirghi (weightlifting) is a double European champion. Sportsmen Artiom Pipa and Serghei Cechir won the 5th place at the World Universiade in 2013 and European Weightlifting Championship.

Also, last year, WO Victor Ciobanu participated at the European Weightlifting Championship, where he won the 5th place. WO Svetlana Saenco recorded the same performance at the World Wrestling Championship 2013 from Hungary.
