Cooperation between National Army and OSCE Discussed at Ministry of Defense
Chisinau, April 30, 2014 — Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, and the Head of the Mission, Ambassador Jennifer Brush, discussed today the progress of cooperation projects carried out in the National Army, with the support of the OSCE mission, and the identification of some development perspectives within a meeting held today at the defense institution HQ.
Minister Troenco thanked the OSCE Mission for the assistance provided to Republic of Moldova, through many programs, including the military staff vocational requalification projects and the Memorandum on Small Arms and Light Weapons, signed in 2010.
“Building a storehouse for conventional ammunition in Bulboaca, modernization of ammunition warehouses, disposal of various types of bombs, as well as security of military equipment and vehicle warehouses, armament and military patrimony are just a few achievements of the two institutions, designed for servicemembers and citizens of the Republic of Moldova”, Minister Troenco stated.
Defense Minister expressed his confidence that the public awareness campaign on danger of unexploded ordnance will raise pupils’ awareness about the risk of explosive devices.
Jennifer Brush reiterated the support of the Organization for the National Army, which is a reliable partner in the Republic of Moldova. “We count on the experience of the military personnel in identifying new projects, that would contribute to the modernization of the defense institution and would be helpful for the citizens of Republic of Moldova,” the Head of the OSCE Mission said.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation and successful implementation of the initiated projects.
