Deputy Defense Minister, Aurel Fondos, Presented to National Army Commanding Officer Corps
Chisinau, May 23, 2014 — Republic of Moldova President’s Advisor on national defense and security issues, Secretary of the Supreme Security Council, Alexei Barbaneagra,presented today Deputy Defense Minister, Aurel Fondos, to the National Army Commanding Officer Corps.
Alexei Barbaneagra stated that the new Deputy Defense Minister possesses all the necessary knowledge and competence for this position and wished him success in fulfilling his duty.
Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, pointed out: “The National Army is always on duty, always active, with a clearly stated goal — to have high combat readiness in order to be able to face all the challenges. We count on the experience of the Deputy Defense Minister Fondos in carrying out this task”.
Deputy Defense Minister thanked the audience for trust and specified that in his entrusted mission, he will focus on the construction and reform of the National Army. He also said that he relies on the support of the Officer Corps of the Ministry of Defense, as well as on the Main Staff of the National Army.
Aurel Fondos is a retired colonel. In his 28 year-military career, he held important positions within the Command units of the National Army.
The last position held by Deputy Defense Minister, Aurel Fondos, was the one of Senior Advisor of the Bureau for Reintegration.
President of Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, signed on May 21, 2014, the decree on the assignment of Aurel Fondos as Deputy Defense Minister.The Decree, based on article 87. (1), art. 94. (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and art. 25. (2) lett. (i) of the Law on National Defense, comes into force upon the signature day.
