National Army Troops Participate at Peace Shield 2014Chisinau, June 23, 2014 — The National Army servicemembers participate, within June According to Col. Ion Dotenco, Commander of Land Force Command, the exercise aims at assessing operational capabilities of the National Army units in carrying out peacekeeping missions as part of a multinational unit, in compliance with international standards. “The 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion Mortar Battery is currently assessed in compliance with the Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC). The staff is evaluated by foreign experts, that assist and observe National Army units by giving recommendations and using the best practices from theaters of operations”, Col. Dotenco stated. The quoted source mentioned that about 150 Moldovan servicemembers, as well as a Romanian and American contingent, are engaged in the exercise. The National Army joined Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) in 2007. This concept is a cooperation tool within the Partnership for Peace Program designed to implement NATO-based standards in the training and evaluation process of declared units and readiness of Republic of Moldova for taking part in multinational peacekeeping operations.
