Moldovan Peacekeepers Mark 22Years of Performance
Chisinau, July 29, 2014 — Deputy Defense Minister, Aurel Fondos, attended on Monday, July 28, the 22nd anniversary ceremony of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the Security Zone of Republic of Moldova, held in Tighina.
Aurel Fondos thanked the National Army soldiers that have been serving in the peacekeeping units from Cocieri, Cosnita and Varnita, since 1992.
“One of the core missions of the National Army is peacekeeping in the security zone. And I’ve noticed that throughout 22 years, soldiers, sergeants, officers and non-commissioned officers have fulfilled their duty with honor and dignity”, Deputy Defense Minister said.
Deputy Defense Minister Fondos asked the peacekeepers, which are in charge of building and maintaining peace in the area, to keep doing their duty with the same commitment.
The National Army deployed two battalions and an infantry unit to the Security Zone, that are currently stationed in Cocieri, Cosnita and Varnita.
