In Memoriam After 22 Years



Chisinau, August 30, 2014 — National Army servicemembers, along with the Dniester war veterans, attended the commemoration ceremonies of the 1992 war heroes, held on Saturday, August 30, in Cocieri, Dubasari.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Eugen Carpov, National Army Commander, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, Dniester war veterans, as well as the citizens of Cocieri village. A commemorative plaque and a cross were inaugurated for heroes dead in the war for independence and sovereignty of the country, within the commemoration ceremony held in 1st independent infantry battalion of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (PF).

War veterans were awarded “Service to Fatherland” Medals, military ranks and diplomas of the Government of Republic of Moldova.

Then, they marched to the monument of heroes fallen in the 1992 Dniester war, where they laid flowers and kept a moment of silence.

According to the official data, 64 Moldovan citizens died in Cocieri in the 1992 War. A total of 300 soldiers and civilians died in the Dniester War and other 3,500 were injured.
