American Official Visits Ministry of Defense
Chisinau, October 8, 2014 — Defense Minister Valeriu Troenco and Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, had a meeting with Gen.Maj. Randy Kee, Director, Strategy and Policy, Headquarters U.S. European Command. The event was also attended by the U.S Ambassador to Republic of Moldova, William Moser.
The officials discussed the bilateral cooperation relations in the defense area and exchanged opinions on issues of mutual interest. The parties also discussed the regional security issue.
Defense Minister Valeriu Troenco stated that the USA are a reliable partner and appreciated the American support in training National Army officers and NCOs, the disposal of chemicals and cooperation within the Partnership for Peace Program.
Gen.Maj. Randy Kee thanked the National Army of the Republic of Moldova for contribution to Kosovo mission and underlined that the USA would keep enhancing cooperation with Moldova.
The Moldovan-American defense cooperation is based on the Memorandum “regarding cooperation in the military area” signed by the Ministry of Defense of Republic of Moldova and the US Department of Defense, on December 4, 1995.
