Metropolitan Vladimir Visits National Army
Chisinau, November 22, 2014 — National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, and His Holiness Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova, together with National Army servicemembers, attended the inauguration ceremony of the commemorative plaque of “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” monument, in Cocieri, Dubasari district. A group of priests sanctified the commemorative plaque, in the courtyard of the village church.
His Holiness Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova, visited the soldiers of 1st independent infantry battalion of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (PF), in Cocieri, Dubasari district, to familiarize with the activity, training and life conditions of the Moldovan peacekeepers.
According to Brigadier Gen. Gorgan, the church and the army have always actively promoted moral-spiritual values among service members.
Metropolitan Vladimir appreciated the cooperation between the Metropolitan Church of Moldova and the National Army, specifying the priests’ mission in military units is an advantage for the patriotic, civic and ethical education of the young generation.
