Italy Appoints New Defense Attaché to Republic of Moldova



Chisinau, December 8, 2014 — Italian Ambassador to Chisinau, Enrico Nunziata, introduced today the new Italian defense attaché, Brigadier Gen. Salvatore Esposito, to Defense Minister Valeriu Troenco and Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan.

Valeriu Troenco congratulated Salvatore Esposito on his assignment, expressing his hope that during his tenure the cooperation between the defense institution of Moldova and Italy will enhance.

The Minister of Defense stated that Italy has always supported the reform process of the defense institution and the achievement of the strategic goal of the Moldovan army to deploy military contingents to international peacekeeping missions. “We highly appreciate the logistics support provided to our military contingent by Italy within KFOR mission. I would also like to praise the personal effort and engagement of Ambassador Nunziata and Col. Giovanni Cazzorla, who made our participation in KFOR mission possible”, Valeriu Troenco said.

Enrico Nunziata stated that his country would keep supporting Republic of Moldova’s European goal. The official also appreciated Moldovan servicemembers’ performance in KFOR.

The new Italian defense attaché to Republic of Moldova is a Master of Strategic Sciences, International and Diplomatic Sciences and Civil Engineering. Brigadier Gen. Salvatore Esposito held various commanding positions in the Main Staff of the Italian Army and participated in different foreign missions, such as KFOR.

The Moldovan — Italian cooperation was established in 2006.
