Moldovan-American Training in Balti (video)



 

Chisinau, December 12, 2014 — The National Army soldiers and the US Marines participated, within December 8 — 12, in a joint anti-armor workshop that ended today at the Training Center of Brigade “Moldova”, in Balti.

Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, stated the anti-armor event, like the previous ones, established an ongoing partnership between our armies, raised interoperability and supported the exchange of experience with the American servicemembers.

The Commander of the US Marine Corps team, LTC Joel Schmidt, thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and Main Staff of the National Army, as well as his comrades, for the successful planning, organization and implementation of the training process within this course.

According to LTC Nicolae Dreglea, officer in charge of the workshop, the agenda consisted of theoretical and practical classes that focused on American and National Army’s weapons familiarization, tactics of employment and practical application scenarios.

The quoted source specified that the practical application scenarios culminated with a live-fire range, within which the American marines and the National Army soldiers fired portable anti-tank weapons of the US Marine Corps.

The anti-armor workshop brought together soldiers from “Moldova”, “Stefan cel Mare”, and “Dacia” Infantry Brigades, the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion of the National Army, as well as the marines from the Black Sea Rotational Force located in Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Constanta, Romania.
