International Experts Evaluate Military Education

CHISINAU, January 21, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Valeriu Troenco, met with Col. ^® John Troxell, leader of the NATO group of experts that evaluate the educational system of the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” within January 19-21.

According to the NATO official, the experts group met with the participants of the postgraduate refresher course in the national defense and security sector and of the strategic and operational leadership course, both launched recently by the MAAF. The experts have also discussed with the staff responsible for the institution’s curriculum development, analyzed the activities of 2014, and established the priorities for 2015-2016 school year.

Col. Troxell noticed the progress registered by the institution the last year, mentioning the efforts made by the MAAF leadership and the Ministry of Defense in order to develop the military education area.

Valeriu Troenco appreciated the foreign assistance and expertise in the military education in the Republic of Moldova, aimed to improve the National Army officers’ training. “Our objective is to launch as soon as possible the PhD studies within the MAAF. We also rely on our partners’ support in reaching this goal”, said the Minister of Defense.

The visit of assistance is part of the IPAP objectives implementation for the development of the Military Academy, in the framework of the Defense Education Enhancement Program, as well as according to the Action plan for the educational system modernization and academic development for 2014-2015.
