Heroes’ Commemoration in Cosnita



CHISINAU, March 14, 2015 — National Army servicemembers participated today in a commemoration event dedicated to the heroes lost in the battle for the defense of Moldova’s integrity and independence, that took place in Cosnita, Dubasari.

The event was organized by the local public authorities and brought together veterans, Government officials, policemen, pupils, and citizens of Cosnita village. First, the participants laid flowers at the monument of Nicolae Sotnicenco. Then, a commemoration march was held towards the monument of the heroes who died defending Moldova’s integrity and independence, where the participants organized a meeting.

Deputy Defense Minister, Alexandru Cimbriciuc, stated that it is National Army soldiers’ duty to honor today the veterans, to relate to their actions, to take care of this country the veterans fought for, and to continue their dream of living in a free country where the dignity and safety of each citizen are respected.

Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, mentioned that the heroes who made our country’s history, fighting with dignity for Moldova’s independence, will remain forever in the memory of our descendants.

At the same time, during the commemorative events, a meal of remembrance was organized for the participants.

43 Moldovan citizens lost their lives in the Cosnita battle that started in the night of March 13 to 14, 1992.
