Minister of Defense Meets with Ambassadors of Hungary and Russia



Chisinau, March 24, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, met today with Ambassador of Russia to Moldova, Farit Mukhametshin.

Viorel Cibotaru informed the Russian Ambassador about the priorities of the Government and the new Ministry of Defense’s leadership plans, focusing the security and defense reform, the development of National Security Strategy of Republic of Moldova, professionalization of National Army staff and soldiers’ social care measures.

Farit Mukhametshin mentioned that the Russian authorities would keep supporting the strong partnership between Republic of Moldova and Russian Federation in different areas, including the military one.

The military collaboration between Republic of Moldova and Russian Federation started in 1997.

Viorel Cibotaru also met today with Mátyás Szilágyi, Ambassador of Hungary to Moldova.

The officials discussed about the current Hungarian-Moldovan collaboration with a focus on measure to enhance the partnership between the two armies.

The parties also discussed about the security and defense reform, and the current joint projects.

Moldova and Hungary signed the military cooperation agreement on November 25, 1997.
