Media Representatives Train Together with KFOR 3 Contingent (video)



CHISINAU, April 3, 2015 — Today, over 20 representatives of media institutions from the Republic of Moldova participated in the second stage of the project “Capacity building training for journalists: Reflecting security related issues and practical cooperation between NATO and Moldova”. The event held at Danceni training ground was planned and organized by the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and the Public Relations Service of the Ministry of Defense.

According to deputy Commander of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, Maj. Ianac Deli, the reporters, bloggers, cameramen, and photographers trained together with the servicemembers who are to be deployed to KFOR mission. The training was conducted on six sites and included first aid, crowd control, patrol by car or on foot, weapon handling, and NBC defense training.

At the end of the training, Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, congratulated the journalist team for fulfilling all the established missions, similar to those from the theaters of operation. “I hope this was a beautiful and useful experience for you. I express my confidence that together we can cooperate in order for you to offer the information consumers from the Republic of Moldova and abroad high quality news about the military life”, said the National Army Commander.

The Project “Capacity building training for journalists: Reflecting security related issues and practical cooperation between NATO and Moldova”, carried out by NATO Information and Documentation Center, in partnership with Ministry of Defense, is held within March and June, 2015.

The project aims to increase the Moldovan mass media level of understanding on all security and defense issues from the Republic of Moldova, and on the partnership between NATO and the Republic of Moldova: challenges and benefits.

During the project’s first stage, held within March 30-31 at NIDC HQ, over 30 journalists were trained by representatives of organizations responsible of the security and defense sector, as well as communication experts of NATO public affairs service.

The activity is part of the National Program for the Implementation of IPAP Republic of Moldova-NATO for 2014-2016, as well as the National Security and Defense Information and Communication Strategy, adopted through Government Decision No. 569 as of August 3, 2012.
