“Moldova” Brigade Celebrates Unit’s Day (video)

CHISINAU, April 10, 2015 — “Moldova” Brigade from Balti marked today its 23^rd anniversary.

The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and National Army Main Staff, representatives of the local public administration, conscripts and servicemembers from the Brigade and their relatives.

Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, congratulated the unit’s military and civil staff, mentioning their professionalism and abnegation in carrying outthe missions established by the country’s leadership. “The excellent fulfillment of service duty and the courage in carrying out missions, since the Brigade’s establishment until today, prove eloquently that the unit marking today its 23^rd anniversary is truly the northern shield of the country and is worthy to receive as a gift the name of our Motherland — ‘Moldova’”, said Viorel Cibotaru.

Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, appreciated the contribution of the officers and NCOs of “Moldova” Brigade to the reestablishment and renovation of unit’s military vehicles, liquidation of natural disasters’ consequences, peacekeeping mission in the East of our country, neutralization of an impressive quantity of explosive objects in the area of responsibility, as well as the performances at national and international exercises.

The Brigade’s conscripts and servicemembers presented wrestling exercises and the unit’s military vehicles, while the military orchestra performed with an instrumental music program.

Also, the Minister of Defense and the National Army Commander awarded medals and diplomas, and promoted to higher ranks a group of the unit’s servicemembers for excellent performances and achievements in service.

Subsequently, on the Brigade’s territory, the Memorial “Calea de luptă a Brigăzii “Moldova” (the Combat Path of “Moldova” Brigade) was inaugurated, and an oak alley was planted.

“Moldova” Brigade was established on April 10, 1992.
