NATO Officials at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, June 2, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Viorel Cibotaru, met today with the members of the NATO Partnerships and Cooperative Security Committee — representatives of the 28 member countries of the Organization. The Delegation, which is on its first visit to Republic of Moldova, is led by James Appathurai, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, and is accompanied by representatives of the neutral European countries — Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, and Ireland.

The main subjects of the meeting were the NATO-Republic of Moldova cooperation, the security and defense situation, the prospects for National Army development, the creation development of military strategic documents, as well as the cooperation with EU within the Common Security and Defense Policy.

The discussions also regarded the Defense Capacity Building Initiative and Interoperability Platform to which Moldova adhered in 2014, the Moldova-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), the Partnership Planning and Review Process (PARP), the Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC), and the Project on the disposal of pesticides and dangerous chemicals in Moldova.

The members of the NATO Partnerships and Cooperative Security Committee pay an official visit to Republic of Moldova within June 1-3.
