“Joint Effort 2015” Exercise Starts in Balti



CHISINAU, July 13, 2015 — About 500 servicemembers from Republic of Moldova, USA, Poland, Georgia and Romania participate at multinational exercise “Joint Effort 2015” within July 12-25. The event takes place at the Military Training Center of “Moldova” Brigade from Balti.

According to Commander of the exercise, Col. Veaceslav Rusu, the training aims to test the contingents’ interoperability, as well as to exchange experience between Moldovan servicemembers and their colleagues from other participating countries.

The source specified that the National Army deployed at the exercise servicemembers from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade, Signal Battalion, Center of Communication and Informatics, as well as from Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”.

Col. Rusu mentioned that, during the exercise, the Moldovan artillery unit soldiers will be trained by their American colleagues on shooting 120 mm bomb launchers of both, the National Army and the US Army. Also, servicemembers from the signal unit will be trained on using modern communication and informatics equipment during combat missions, aimed to reinforce the command and control system.

According to the Commander of the exercise, the participants will carry out missions on 21 training sites, including crowd control, patrol, movement on battlefield, actions at command and observation posts, EOD drills, medical evacuation, as well as shooting drills.
