Multinational Exercise “Joint Effort 2015” is Over in Balti (video)



 CHISINAU, July 24, 2015 — The multinational exercise “Joint Effort 2015” ended today in Balti.

The National Army servicemembers and their colleagues from Georgia, Poland, Romania, and the USA carried out missions on different training sites. The mission execution was observed by Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Gorgan, Adviser to the President on National Defense and Security, Alexei Barbaneagra, as well as a group of military attaches to Republic of Moldova.

At the exercise’s closing ceremony, Brigadier Gen. Gorgan stated that, after two weeks of intensive training, about 500 soldiers present on the training site from Balti have demonstrated excellent readiness and maximum interoperability. “I would like to thank our foreign partners, as well as ‘Moldova’ Brigade leadership, for planning and successfully conducting the ‘Joint Effort 2015’ exercise”, said the National Army Commander.

In sign of appreciation of their performances, the servicemembers were awarded National Army medals and diplomas.

According to Commander of the exercise, Col. Veaceslav Rusu, the exercise, held within July 12-25, at the military training center of “Moldova” Brigade, had the goal of testing contingents’ interoperability, as well as exchanging experience between Moldovan servicemembers and their colleagues from other participating countries.

The source mentioned that, during the exercise, the contingents exchanged experience on crowd control, patrol, movement on battlefield, actions at command and observation posts, EOD drills, medical evacuation, as well as shooting drills with bomb launchers of 120 mm caliber of both, the National Army and the US Army.

On July 16 and July 22, respectively, the training within the “Joint Effort 2015” exercise was observed by Commander of North Carolina National Guard, Maj. Gen. Gregory Lusk, and Chief of the Romanian Army General Staff, LTG Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, who were both on working visits to Republic of Moldova.
