National Army EOD Engineers Identify and Destroy 23 Explosives in July


CHISINAU, August 3, 2015 — In July, National Army EOD engineers disposed 23 explosives in different regions of our country.

According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, specialist, EOD Division of the National Army, in this period, the EOD engineers were called 17 times in different villages of Anenii Noi, Dubasari, and Stefan Voda districts, as well as in Ungheni. The EOD engineers neutralized artillery projectiles, bomb-launcher bombs, air bombs, and hand grenades.

The source specified that the most recent operations were carried out in Ungheni and in Puhaceni village, Anenii Noi district, by the EOD Battalion from Negresti. Thus, on July 30, the EOD team disposed a 25 kg air bomb, a bomb-launcher bomb of 320 mm caliber, and an artillery projectile of 152 mm caliber. The objects were discovered on the shores of rivers Dniester and Prut.

LTC Chilivnic said that all the explosives are of Soviet Union and German origins, dating back to World War II. They were destroyed under maximum security conditions.

This year, the National Army EOD engineers destroyed 218 explosive devices throughout the country.
