Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun” Celebrates the 23rd Anniversary



CHISINAU, October 3, 2015 — The Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” (MAAF) celebrated today its 23rd anniversary during a ceremony held at the institution’s headquarters.

Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, congratulated the institution’s staff and students, mentioning that, over the past 23 years, the Military Academy educated personalities it can be proud of. “The most valuable resource of the National Academy are the people. That is why we must concentrate on educating a new generation of leaders, specialists, soldiers, and civilians. The National Army needs and deserves well-trained people. People who are able to ensure the national stability and security, which are essential for the citizens’ welfare”, stated the Minister of Defense.

Commander-rector of the Military Academy, Col. Iurie Bruma, mentioned that the MAAF is a scientific, cultural, and military educational center that trains military staff for the National Army. Col. Bruma specified that, for more than two decades, the Academy has recorded considerable achievements on national and international level.

Col. Bruma appreciated the support of the National Army leadership, former MAAF Commanders and veterans, as well as of military attaches who contributed to the institution’s development and its promotion abroad.

During the ceremony, a group of servicemembers were awarded National Army medals for excellent fulfillment of service duties and activity performances.

The event agenda included an exhibition of vehicles, weapons and equipment, demonstrative wrestling exercises, as well as an instrumental music performance. Also, the visitors could familiarize with institution’s infrastructure, facilities, and activity.

So far, the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” educated about 1,600 officers at different specialties such as: infantry, artillery, communications,border guard, and carabineer.

The length of studies at the MAAF is four years. Accommodation, food and military equipment are free for students.
