Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, Meets with President of Georgia, Giorgi MargvelashviliCHISINAU, October 27, 2015 — Today, Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, met with the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili. The officials discussed about mutual issues of the defense sector, as well as about concrete steps to be taken for the European Union integration. The Minister of Defense reiterated that both, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia share the EU integration goal. The Minister noted the importance of a stable political situation on national and international level for the achievement of this goal. Anatol Salaru pointed out how important is the bilateral military cooperation and the participation in joint peacekeeping exercises for the two countries.. The Minister mentioned the need to reform the National Army in compliance with Euro-Atlantic standards. President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, stated that the experience exchange between the Republic of Moldova and Georgia is fundamental. The hybrid war and the regional security encourage us to get ready to maintain peace and territorial integrity. At the end of the meeting, the officials agreed to continue and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in order to reach the mutual goals. |
