Minister of Defense Meets with Military Attaché of Russian Federation

CHISINAU, December 10, 2015 — Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, met today with Igor Dobvnea, the new military attaché of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova. The officials discussed about Moldova’s neutrality, the situation in Transnistria, the cooperation between the National Army and the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as the international security issues.

Given the tense situation in the region, Anatol Salaru requested Russia to respect Moldova’s neutrality and to withdraw its military contingent deployed illegally on our country’s territory. The Minister of Defense called Col. Igor Dobvnea to fulfill his mission as military attaché taking into account that the Republic of Moldova is a sovereign and independent state.

The military attaché of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova assured the leadership of the Ministry of Defense a further fruitful mutual cooperation based on equity and respect.

Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, ceased any cooperation with former Russian military attaché after he had participated in the parade marking Transnistria’s 25th “independence” anniversary.
