Minister of Defense Meets with the Military Attaché of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova
CHISINAU, February 17, 2016 — Today, Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru met with the military attaché of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova, LTC Dimitar Georgiev Atanasov, at the Ministry of Defense HQ.
The main issues discussed were the regional security, the reformation of the armies, and bilateral relations of the two ministries.
The Minister of Defense highlighted that Bulgaria and Moldova had the same historical background and similar goals. Anatol Salaru mentioned that his objective is to reform the National Army in accordance with the Euro-Atlantic standards, and Bulgaria can serve as example in this sense.
LTC Dimitar Georgiev Atanasov said that Bulgaria is making every effort to modernize its army, but it is a long and complicated process. The military attaché mentioned as a recent success of the Bulgarian army the fact that the country’s air space is protected by the member states of the Alliance.
At the end of the meeting, Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru expressed the conviction that the bilateral defense relations between the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria will be strengthened.
The Bulgarian military attaché, LTC Dimitar Georgiev Atanasov has also met with the National Army leadership.
