Over 340 Soldiers Take Military Oath in Chisinau and Cahul Garrisons



CHISINAU, February 19, 2016 — Today, over 340 young men enlisted in the National Army in January, 2016 took their military oath in Chisinau and Cahul garrisons.

In Military Compound 142 from Chisinau, 181 soldiers took the military oath. The event was attended by Minister of Defense, Anatol Salaru, National Army leadership, the Commanding Officers Corps, soldiers’ parents and relatives.

Anatol Salaru congratulated the young soldiers specifying that by taking the military oath they take the responsibility to serve the country with honor, to defend its citizens and values. “The military service is a school that will teach you, first of all, to be men and to respect the oath you took today. You will be trained by commanders that make the National Army proud and that started on the same step you are today. Learn from the and make every effort to fulfill your military service in an excellent way”, stated the Minister of Defense.

Minister Salary thanked the soldiers’ parents for the upbringing they offered their children and assured them of the support of the Ministry of Defense’s leadership during the entire military service.

During the ceremony, the service members of Guard Battalion and Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” presented square bashing and wrestling exercises. The Presidential Orchestra presented a military music program.

Also today, in Cahul, 162 soldiers took the military oath in “Dacia” Brigade. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Defense Minister, Gheorghe Galbura, who encouraged the young men to fulfill their missions with responsibility and commitment.

Gheorghe Galbura also congratulated the staff of “Dacia” Brigade which celebrated today 24 years since the unit’s establishment.

After taking the military oath, the soldiers get a four-day leave. Then, they are sent to National Army units. The mandatory military service lasts 12 months.
