Graduates of the Ammunition Management Basic Theoretical Course Receive Diplomas



CHISINAU, March 11, 2016 — A ceremony marking the end of the Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile Management Basic Theoretical Course was held today at the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, where the participants received their graduation diplomas. The course was conducted by the National Army Center of Weapons and Ammunition.

Chief of J4 Logistics Directorate, Col. Mihail Olaru, thanked the experts from Austria, Sweden, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland for the expertise and assistance offered to the Ministry of Defense and other Moldovan institutions in planning and organizing the Course. The Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile Management Basic Theoretical Course is part of a project developed by the Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with OSCE mission to the Republic of Moldova.

The source specified that the project is of great importance to the Republic of Moldova as it contributes to people’s safety by keeping the weapons and ammunition under maximum security conditions.

The representative of OSCE mission to the Republic of Moldova, Lech Baginski, congratulated the course’s graduates and the group of instructors from the National Army Center of Weapons and Ammunition, assisted by Austrian and Swedish experts.

The Ammunition and Weapons Stockpile Management Basic Theoretical Course was held within February 23 — March 11. Among the participants were 18 National Army service members, as well as representatives of the Carabineer Troops Department, Ministry of Justice, and Border Police. The course included subjects regarding the ammunition technology, basic terminology of chemical technology, techniques of marking, registration and record-keeping of different types of ammunition, and techniques of ammunition packaging.

During the training, the team of international ammunition management experts was awarded National Army medals “For Strengthening the Brotherhood in Arms” and “For Cooperation”. The medals were offered for contribution to the planning and organization of the training for the Moldovan Armed Forces as part of the training project on ammunition and weapons stockpile management.
