Anatol Salaru and Jerzy Stankiewicz Discuss the Moldovan-Polish Military Cooperation

CHISINAU, March 17, 2016 — The bilateral defense cooperation and opportunities for new joint projects were the subjects discussed at the meeting between Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru and Minister-advisor of the Embassy of Poland in the Republic of Moldova, Jerzy Stankiewicz. The event was also attended by Polish military attaché to our country, Col. Jan Myszczynski.

Anatol Salaru stated that Poland is a trusted partner of Moldova and the Polish Army is an example of development for the National Army. Thus, the Minister of Defense said that it would be advantageous to start joint training projects for the military units, in order to increase interoperability and exchange experience between the two armies.

Jerzy Stankiewicz mentioned that Poland is available to cooperate in the defense sector, with a focus on training and participation in joint exercises. The Polish diplomat expressed his conviction that the two countries’ service members will test their capabilities within multinational exercises and training, together with other nations’ troops.

At the end of the meeting, the officials agreed on organizing an eventual meeting between the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and his Polish counterpart, in the near future.
