An Exhibition Dedicated to Soviet Occupation Period Opens at Military Museum



CHISINAU, March 26, 2016 — The permanent exhibition “Soviet Occupation” opened today at the Center of Military History and Culture. The event was attended by ministers, MPs, ambassadors, military attaches to the Republic of Moldova and residents of Chisinau city.

“Today, we bow to the memory of our ancestors, victims of a criminal regime. This regime has to remain only in history, and we have to honor the victims of Soviet occupation”, said Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru at the opening of the exhibition.

Minister Salaru specified that this museum is not a form of revenge, but a peaceful commemoration of those who were killed.

According to Chief of the Center of Military History and Culture, retired col., dr. Vitalie Ciobanu, the exhibition comprises over 20 thousand museum pieces including photographs, documents, objects dating back to the Soviet occupation period. The exhibits were collected by the Military Museum employees from the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
