EOD Training for National Army EOD Engineers

CHISINAU, March 29, 2016 — A group of National Army service members is attending a EOD training course, held at the EOD Battalion from Negresti, Straseni, within March 15-30, 2016. The training is part of an EOD assistance project, supported by the US European Command.

According to Commander of the Battalion, LTC Adrian Efros, in this period, 15 officers and NCOs of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade, and EOD Battalion are trained on how to search, defuse, and destroy explosive objects of different types and calibers.

The source specified that the sessions are held by a group of specialists from National Army EOD units, who have been previously trained by American EOD engineers. “At the respective stage of the course, the team of Moldovan trainers is holding theoretical and practical sessions, while being observed by specialists from the US European Command. At the end of the course, they will take evaluation tests in order to be certified as EOD trainers”, mentioned LTC Efros.

The EOD assistance project started in 2012 and comprises training courses and technical support.
