KFOR-4 EOD Team in Action



CHISINAU, April 5, 2016 — The EOD team of the fourth National Army contingent deployed to the peacekeeping mission KFOR in Kosovo started the mine clearing operations in the area of responsibility, together with EOD engineers from the USA, Switzerland, and Ukraine from Kosovo Security Forces. The operation is part of the “Mine Action Program” for 2016.

According to Commander of the National Army contingent, LTC Ruslan Cojocaru, on Monday, April 4, the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, the Moldovan EOD team disposed of 15 explosive objects found on Kosovo territory.

The source specified that, during the same period, the Moldovan infantrymen carried out joint patrol (by car and on foot), established checkpoints, ensured guard and security at checkpoints as well as at “Camp Villaggio Italia” Base from Pech village. The service members have been also ensuring security and defense of “Visoki Decane” Monastery, a special status facility under the responsibility of Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W).

The KFOR-4 contingent consists of 41 service members out of whom an infantry platoon of 33 service members, 7 EOD engineers, and one staff officer.
