Anti-Air Missile Regiment Marks 24th Anniversary



CHISINAU, May 14, 2016 — The Anti-Air Missile Regiment celebrated today the 24th anniversary organizing an official ceremony in Durlesti. The event was attended by Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura, acting Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, former commanders, soldiers, veterans, and pupils.

Gheoghe Galbura congratulated the regiment’s service members, specifying that the unit is always on duty, protecting the air space, and participating, together with other units, in military exercises and missions set by the leadership of the Air Force Command and the National Army General Staff. “Your success gives hope that we can fulfill our duty with honor. I am sure that your professionalism will continue to contribute to the development of anti-air skills and to ensure an effective control of the air space”, mentioned Deputy Minister Galbura during the ceremony.

Commander of the Anti-Air Missile Regiment, Col. Ion Braniste, appreciated the commitment of the unit’s soldiers who are constantly monitoring and defending the Moldovan air space.

According to Col. Braniste, the regiment’s officers and NCOs have been proving their professional skills in national and international exercises, such as: “Fire Shield”, “Joint Effort”, “Northern Shield”, and “Prut”, being appreciated by the soldiers of other armies.

At the end of the event, the guests watched a presentation of wrestling exercises performed by service members from Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” and had the possibility to familiarize with the unit’s vehicles and weapons.

The Anti-Air Missile Regiment “Dimitrie Cantemir” was established in May, 1992.
