“Falcon Medic 2016” Ends With Simulation Exercise (video)



CHISINAU, May 26, 2016 — The exercise “Falcon Medic 2016” ended today at “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade from Chisinau. The ending ceremony was attended by Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura, Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, Julie Stufft, and Commander of the medical unit of North Carolina National Guard, Col. Timothy Mauldin.

According to National Army Commander of the exercise, LTC Alexandru Lesan, according to the exercise scenario, the military doctors of the National Army, together with doctors from North Carolina, simulated an exercise of pre-hospital emergency care in case of a mass casualty incident. Thus, the medical staff acted in various training locations, such as: triage department, chemical decontamination, emergency department, bandage department (for victims with slight injuries), medical evacuation department, fighting combat stress department, pharmacy, evacuation coordination cell, and medical department of the upper echelon.

The source specified that, at the end of the exercise, the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova donated to the National Army medical equipment and supplies amounting to a total of 300,000 US dollars. The donation was offered with the support of the American NGO “Project C.U.R.E.” through the US Department of Defense HIV/AIDS Prevention Program.

The exercise “Falcon Medic 2016” lasted two weeks and brought together 44 medics from National Army units and military-medical institutions and 20 soldiers from the medical service of the North Carolina National Guard, USA.

The exercise “Falcon Medic 2016” is part of the Nursing Program implemented in the National Army and launched in 2013 with the support of the North Carolina National Guard.
