Two National Army Units Celebrate Their 24th Anniversaries



CHISINAU, May 27, 2016 — The National Army Topographic Center and “Decebal” Air Base celebrated today the Unit’s Day within ceremonies held at Military Compund 142 from Chisinau and respectively in Marculesti.

At the event in Chisinau, Commander of Land Forces Command, Col. Mihail Buclis, congratulated the Center’s staff, mentioning its importance for the development of military topography, an indispensable sector for the National Army.

On the 24th anniversary, Col. Buclis awarded diplomas to a group of military and civil employees of the Center.

The Military Topographic Center was founded on May 28, 1992. The unit’s mission is to supply the National Army Main Staff and military units with maps and geospatial data, carry out field topographic measurements and insure topo-geodesic support of artillery troops.

Also today, during a ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of “Decebal” Air Base, interim Commander of the unit, Maj. Victor Ciobanu, thanked the veterans, unit’s military and civil staff for faultless fulfillment of their missions.

“Decebal” Air Base was established on May 27, 1992, based on Soviet Union Air Regiment 86, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova.
