National Army Medal for American Officer
CHISINAU, June 13, 2016 — Chief of the US Office of Defense Cooperation in the Republic of Moldova, LTC Brendan C. Barlett, was awarded today the medal “For Strengthening the Brotherhood in Arms” during a ceremony at the Ministry of Defense.
The medal was awarded by Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru, on the completion of LTC Barlett’s duty, for the efforts made in order to develop the cooperation between the two armies.
The Minister of Defense thanked LTC Barlett for his significant contribution to strengthening the partnership between the two countries through his personal involvement in the development of assistance projects implemented in Moldova by the USA. Among these projects were the reconstruction of the National Army military training base, the donation of equipment and military vehicles, bilateral exercises, as well as training opportunities for Moldovan soldiers in American educational institutions.
LTC Barlett said that it was an honor for him to be the head of the US Office of Defense Cooperation and expressed his conviction that the joint projects and trainings will continue and will eventually contribute to the National Army modernization.
LTC Brendan C. Barlett was appointed Chief of the US Office of Defense Cooperation in August, 2013. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, USA, and the U.S. War College — aviation. LTC Barlett has a master degree in national security and international relations.
