National Defense Strategy Draft Submitted for Public Consultation
CHISINAU, August 17, 2016 — The National Defense Strategy (NDS) draft was submitted for public consultation by the Ministry of Defense on August 16, 2016. The document was developed by a cross-institutional working group consisting of representatives of 23 ministries and institutions with responsibilities in the defense sector.
The NDS is a policy document that establishes how to accomplish the state institutions’ national defense goals.
The document defines the strategic context of the security environment, describes the sector’s current situation by identifying the defense risks and threats and displays the strategic view and the defense policy goals, the means and resources necessary for their achievement.

After the public analysis, the cross-institutional working group will adjust the document based on the proposals and will submit it for approval to the members of the State Committee responsible for the development of the NDS, at their next meeting, in September.
The members of the Committee appointed a cross-institutional working group to develop the NDS.
