National Army Expands its Cooperation with the International Committee of the Red CrossCHISINAU, September 6, 2016 — Today, Chief of National Army General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, and deputy head of the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the Russian Federation, Belarus, and Moldova, Gauthier Lefèvre, signed a cooperation protocol. According to Maj. Elena Milcenco, main specialist, Law Department of the General Staff, the document stipulates the expansion of cooperation between the National Army and ICRC, especially in the sector of international humanitarian law. The source specified that the protocol reflects the commitment of the Republic of Moldova, as part of Geneva Conventions, to disseminate the provisions of the international humanitarian law in the National Army. The first cooperation protocol in the international humanitarian law sector between the National Army and ICRC was signed in 2005. |
