Polish Military Attaché Decorated by Minister of Defense

CHISINAU, September 27, 2016 — Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru awarded today the medal “For Strengthening the Brotherhood in Arms” to the defense attaché of the Republic of Poland, Col. Jan Mysczynski. The medal was offered for the efforts to develop the bilateral cooperation and for the conclusion of the Polish officer’s mandate.

Anatol Salaru appreciated the Polish Government’s contribution to strengthen the cooperation between the two defense institutions. The Minister of Defense mentioned Poland’s support in the NATO/PfP Project on the disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova. Within this project, Poland offered Moldova 35 thousands Euros for the evacuation and disposal of 320 tons of pesticides from Comrat and Falesti districts.

Minister Salaru also referred to the training offered to National Army service members in specialized Polish educational institutions that, so far, hosted seven Moldovan service members. Thus, Anatol Salaru stated that the defense attaché Jan Mysczynski had an essential contribution to implementing these projects, as well as to the participation of the Polish contingent in this year’s military parade.

Col. Mysczynski said that it was an honor for him to be the defense attaché, highlighting the Moldovan colleagues’ openness to strengthen the cooperation between the two armies.

Ambassador Artur Michalski underlined the availability of his country to continue to support the National Army in reforming the defense and security sector.
